The preparation was developed in the 1970s by Vladimir Khavinson and Vyacheslav Morozov in Leningrad, as part of research into peptide bioregulators from various tissues. The same research school later developed synthetic short peptides such as Epithalon.

The literature describes effects on T-lymphocyte differentiation and on the ratio of lymphocyte subpopulations in experimental models, as well as research in the context of age-related thymic involution. Because it is a mixture of peptides, attributing an effect to any single molecule is methodologically difficult.
