Description and specifications

Research Compound Retatrutide is a laboratory material for analytical and in vitro work, available in 10 mg and 20 mg variants.

What is retatrutide?

Retatrutide (LY3437943) is a synthetic 39-amino-acid peptide with an attached fatty diacid chain and a molecular weight of approximately 4.7 kDa. The fatty chain enables reversible binding to albumin, which substantially extends the molecule's half-life compared with natural incretin hormones.

Research background

The molecule was developed by Eli Lilly as a continuation of work on dual incretin agonists. Retatrutide remains an investigational molecule in clinical development and is not an approved medicine.

Mechanism and scientific context

Retatrutide is a triple agonist: it activates the GIP, GLP-1 and glucagon receptors. While GLP-1 and GIP receptors participate in glucose-dependent insulin signalling, the glucagon receptor is associated with hepatic metabolism and energy expenditure. The ratio of activity across the three receptors is key to its pharmacological profile and distinguishes it from dual and single agonists.

Main research areas

  • GIP, GLP-1 and glucagon receptors
  • multi-receptor pharmacology
  • receptor activity ratios
  • half-life extension by albumin binding

Level of evidence

Large clinical trials of the reference molecule exist. They do not confirm the identity, purity or safety of this research material.
